Week 5
This week has been filled with lots of ups and downs, it has definitely been bitter sweet! I have felt the spirit more this week than in my entire life though, I know that the savior is with me ALWAYS!
This week after emailing you guys we just kind of had the whole rest of our p day to relax and we took a 2 and a half hour nap!! It is so funny how tired we are here everyday! The next day on Thursday it was Mexican independence day!!! WAHOO..... Me and my companieras woke up early and set up the chairs and tables for our district and then we wrote cute notes for them!! And i got to pull out the banner i bought that you guys said i would never use!! JOKES ON YOU! hahahah Anyways that day was really fun and later that day i got donuts from family!! WE shared with my district and had a donut fiesta!! Then that night we were so privileged to see a cultural celebration!! It was hilarious because before we went to the bathroom and in the hallway there were just 20 guys in there boxers changing!! We like ran to the bathroom and laughed for an hour. But then we got to the celebration and found out they were the dancers and it was part of their costume!! It was so good to see dancing again! They did like a fire dance and they had a country dance, clogging, and the salsa! It was so fun and let me just tell you when missionaries have an opportunity to not be rowdy they are a mess!! WE WERE SO LOUD!π It was one of my favorite nights in the CCM! I have a new love for the Mexican culture. Then on Friday we had a lesson with our investigator Christina. IT WAS OUR best lesson in the CCM! The spirit was just there and i felt so much love for my investigator and her decision to be baptized. In the end my companions and me and our teacher who was being our investigator were in tears! I cant believe its not even real and im getting emotional. It made me excited for the joy i am going to feel when i have an investigator that decides to follow the example of Christ! Saturday was our last lesson with Stephie our other investigator. It was so bitter sweet to be done teaching her, but amazing to look back and see the progress. Sunday was the HARDEST day i have ever LOVED to have! That morning me and my companions were really sad and down on ourselves. We were all in tears and just had no confidence! I am not going to lie that was the low point of the CCM! But after We all knelt down outside in companionship prayer and asked for a sincere feeling of comfort. By the end of the night we counted 14 TENDER MERCIES! I could not believe how blessed and comforted i felt by the lord and my savior! That night I was wrapped in his arms as i prayed! Some of the tender mercies were first we went to the devotional and the special musical number was Till we meet again! I just burst into tears because that is the last thing my mom wrote me in my journal is god be with you till we meet again! After the talk we got to watch was president Bednars Character of Christ! THIS is the best talk I have ever heard. He explained that every time that the savior is going through major trials he turns out, when the natural man or us turns in. I just understood so much more what selflessness is! Instead of saying wo is me and turning in I tried so hard the rest of the day to serve others! I know that the lord knew exactly how to comfort me and tell me that everything is okay! That night we had the best testimony meeting as a district everyone was in tears! I have never felt SO LOVED in my entire life! I am just so ready to focus on the people and focus on those that need this gospel more than anything! I know that there are people waiting for this love of Christ that i felt!! The rest of the week was the same as always the difference was i truly was learning for THOSE PEOPLE! i FINALLY GOT ALMOST ALL THE IRREGULAR CONJUGATIONS MEMORIZED! tHERE ARE SO MANY!! But honestly i am so excited but nervous to leave! Pray for me that i will get a good trainer hahah! So far i have lucked out with the people around me!
LOVE siempre Hermana Tams❤πππππ

Week 4
Hola Familia it has officially been one month out in the field and it is crazy!! This week a lot of fun stuff happened and a lot of sad stuff hahah! First off the district above us left and we had some really good friends in their!! The sister training leaders are in that district and They honestly are the sweetest girls they helped me not get stressed out and enjoy the MTC! They left and they are going to do amazing, I already was so sad when they left so i cant even imagine how sad i am going to be when i have to leave my companions and my district!! We are now the oldest district in our zone which is absolutely insane!! I feel like I just got here yesterday and now i only have 17 more months!! A funny thing the district that left did before they left is, they came into our room and said that we weren't following the rules and that we needed to step up!! And they told us that it was so serious that we needed to have interviews with the branch president!! And then they threw out candy and said that they were joking hahahha! I guess that is a tradition here so next week my district gets to do that!! I will let you know how it goes hahha!! We have been helping new hermanas a lot this week and it feels so good to almost be done hahah!! I am scared but excited to start the new adventure of being out in the field!! My spanish isn't quite ready yet for that but i am so ready!! This week i got two new investigators who are really hermana smith and elder hatfield!! And we also had TRC for our first time which is when we teach volunteers from the church. I'm not gonna lie it was really scary and hard to understand their million words a second espanol... But i know that i had the holy ghost and was blessed with the gift of tongues!! I could not have felt the spirit so strongly or been able to understand half of what she was saying without the lord. This week i have really progressed with loving the investigator and trying to know them and love them and figure out how the gospel can help them. Because the gospel can help EVERYONE!! Some fun things this week is first tomorrow is independence day so There has been no joke 30 fireworks each night in mexico. Me and my companions made the joke that its like the hunger games when they send up the bomb things. We said that that means that 20 missionaries went home hahahah!!!π It was also 9 11 this week and my whole district wore red white and blue to show respect!! It is cool that even though we are in mexico almost everyone in the ccm wore red white and blue!! Me and my companions have also become closer this week if you can believe it! We stayed up Later than we are supposed too *uh oh!!* Hahahah but we painted mails and studied and told stories and laughed! I LOVE my companions i am going to be so sad when i have to leave them!!!! We also were super blessed this week because we were praying for hamburgers which seems silly but with the food here sometimes you have to!!! AND we got hamburgers we were all so happy! Some other things that happened were hermana smith trying out to sing for a devotional she is amazing!! One day it was very special we were practicing and at the end we all went around the piano and sang together and it was just so fun and stress free!! It was nice to have a second to ourselves and just sing!! Lets see the Spanish i have been working on this week is tenses like past and future tenses! TENSES ARE SO HARD!!! Spanish has like 5 words for 1 word!!! But i can honestly say i am improving!!! WE played volleyball at gym time this week with some latinas and i could actually understand them and talk to them!! HAHAH even if they do laugh at my accent I am the biggest white girl!! BUt i did have my district going for a day that my grandparents came from mexico hahah! I showed them a picture of grandpa and they were like yeah i can kind of see it!! HAHAH oh the irony! Overall this week was very spiritual and i can feel gods love for me more than ever! And thankyou so much for your prayers I know that you are praying for me every night i can feel the love!! Yo se que la CCM es muy dificil pero la CCM es muy divertido!! Yo tengo mucho de bendiciones en mi vida! Yo se que mediante Jesucristo y Dios SerΓ© a muy feliz y muy marviloso missionaria!! Yo amo ustedes mucho!!
LOVE, siempre Hermana Tamsπ

Week 3
Hola mi familia y mi amigas!! Yo soy muy agradecida por ustedes y por nuestro salvador jesucristo. This week was pretty much the same hahah. I am running out of things to tell you all because in the CCM it is pretty much the same everyday... We wake up *If you are me you wake up very late* then we get ready and make our beds and say companionship prayer. Then we head to the clase por personal estudiar. This week something amazing that happened id that i FINISHED el libro de mormon. I cannot believe how precious personal study and the scriptures have become to me. Then we go to breakfast and come back and have things like coaching and language with maestra valesquez. SHE is an amazing teacher everyone in mexico is so nice!! She is an amazing teacher on how to bring the spirit. I have really been struggling with that this week and trying to pray for the holy ghost in our lessons. And i really saw a difference.. My language has really improved this week i now have memorized my objective, the baptismal invite, the first vision, and moronis promise. I am really trying to comprehend. Spanish is hard because they say everything backwards so instead of the lords house they say the house of the lord. Just little things like that. After language we have lunch then gym time. Gym time was funny this week I have been playing tennis. Which jena has been trying to teach me to play forever hahahah!! Its actually really fun even though i am really bad. One day it was pouring rain and we played volleyball in the rain which was very fun!! After gym we go back and have progressing investigator where we teach either christina or stephie who are really our teachers. Then we have TALL which is a computer program where you learn vocab and say it back to them so that you can get a accent. I have officially been voted whitest spanish missionary by my district! Pero esta bien. Then we have language study and then bed *or if you are me more studying because i get stressed out hahah* My companions think it is crazy that i study more. Basically im just trying to keep trying this week. I always remember the saying that my parents tell me. It is when the going gets tough the tough get going. I know that because i have faith in myself and faith in the lord I can be a tough missionary. This week was a lot the same but some spiritual things that happened was that it was fast Sunday so i fasted for my family that they would know that god loves them and is blessing them. And then I read my moms email and she said that on fast Sunday someone got up from mexico city and Colorado!! I know that the lord is blessing all of you and loves all of you. Then in sacrament meeting i got up and bore my testimony about the atonement. It was such a spiritual meeting!! Finally another spiritual thing is that yesterday we got a live broadcast of the apostle christofferson. It was amazing he asked a question of who called you on a mission! and then he said it was the lord and he doesn't make mistakes and we are supposed to be here. I KNOW that i am supposed to be here!! We also went to the temple again and I just felt gods love for me more that i ever have!! Some funny things that happened that might make you laugh is first off my family sent me donuts. And some hermana workers were cleaning our casa and i wanted to share so i went around saying *Yo quiero donuts* Which translates to i want donuts hahaha they were so confused and my companions laughed at me for hours. Also in my district it was pick on hermana tams week hahah! They keep on calling me country... Which i don,t understand but they think i am the biggest southern cowgirl. And then when i would get mad at them about calling me that they would make fun of my mad face like the little girls do!! They don't think i can be mean.... Also mom got me some fruit tic tacs that i thought were spicy BECAUSE THEY ARE!! And they went around laughing at me for that because i think everything is spicy! BECAUSE ALL MEXICAN FOOD IS SPICY! Anyways there are some stories. I'm sorry not much happened this week! I love you all so much! A really good chapter i read in the book of mormon this week is Alma 26! Say your prayers every day and read that chapter it applies so much to missionary work!! Recordar que su Padre Celestial amos ustedes!!!
Love siempre, Hermana Tams!
