Week 12
So we finished the last week of transfers and this week was filled with miracles, fun, and tender mercies. We got transfer news on Tuesday and I get to stay in eagle valley and be follow up trained by Sister Cardosa. We are so excited to be in this area again, I swear Eagle Valley has the best members and Investigators in the world. This week I really understood how important it is to help the members too, and to have their trust. i realized that missionaries aren't just there to convert new investigators, but to continually help the members. So this week was a great growing week with members and with our investigators. On Monday night after P-Day, we pigged out on candy and cookies for Halloween and then we stayed in and studied for an upcoming conference with Elder sorous. We were studying for like 5 hours and we got a little delirious and ended up laughing at everything that happened hahah! Then on Tuesday we taught Lorena again. She is really doing amazing, we taught her the plan of salvation and she really loved the resurrection. She really understood the plan and what she need to do. She has such a desire to return with god. Then that night we had dinner with Philip White, and we made a lot of progress with him. We decided to serve him because he lives alone and he cant cook much because he is blind. So we made some tacos for all of us and he was so thankful. HAhaha it was kind of funny because you should have seen me and Sister Cardosa trying to figure out how to cook. She is even worse than me, the only thing she knows how to make is juevos rancheros. (Which is eggs on a tortilla with ketchup or salsa hahaha) One morning I walked out and she was making it and singing her little heart out, that latina song that goes... AY AY AY AY CANTA E NO LLORES! It was so funny!! I about died laughing, They are actually pretty good though so I totally encourage that you try them! But the dinner with Philip White was very good and we had brownies for desert!!! Then on Wednesday WAS my FAVORITE day this week!!!!!! We started out by teaching Monica! She is honestly so READY! We taught her about faith, repentance, and baptism! She understood everything and she really said that she has gotten so many answers that this church is true. She talked about how her husband isn't really religious and that when she asks to go to church he normally complains and asks why, but when she said she was going to our church he said okay and told her that he would watch there one year old dilayney. And then afterwards she was with a friend and she told her that she had never seen Monica so happy, And Lastly she pointed out that when we showed up we weren't even looking for her we were looking for a less active member and she knows that god sent us to her. I know that god has blessed her with these amazing answers because of her faith and her prayers and her desire to know! Please keep praying for her and Lorena! Then that night we got invited to a Young Womens activity to get them excited about missionary work! It was my favorite thing, I felt like I was talking with my little sisters about missionary work. They are so excited to serve and they are amazing Young Women! They agreed to go out on lessons with us and to pray about thier missions. We showed them a talk by Hugh Brown called God id the Gardener! And this talk is AMAZING. It talks about how god knows who he want us to be and that if he let us go our own way we would never amount to anything! It reminded me of why i decided to go. Because honestly it was never in my plan but I know that god knew who he wanted me to be! Even if you aren't thinking about a mission please pray about it, because if you are meant to go god will change your mind hahah! But the Young womens was an awesome experience and it really made my heart so happy and made me think about my little hermanitas! Then on Thursday We had district meeting! The last one as a district because 2 elders are leaving and we are getting a new district leader this week! They gave awesome trainings on missionary work during Christmas. I am getting so excited for the holidays. Then this weekend on Friday Saturday and Sunday is when we really got closer with our members! We got to do lots of service with Sister Mayne! We weeded in her garden for 2 hours and I didn't complain once hahah! (My mom would say that is a miracle) Then afterwards we did 2 hours of service with Hermana Chacon who is a recent convert. She was cooking all sorts of crazy spicy Mexican food for her daughters birthday! And I had to cut onions and jalepenos and everything! I swear that is the most I have cried in my whole life! We also got the opportunity to have amazing lessons with members! They are so sweet and so faithful, they have such a desire for missionary work! I am so thankful to have a ward that is trying to get everyone involved in missionary work, even the Youth and Primary!! Then on Sunday we had Stake Conference again hahhaah! I don't think that Eagle Valley believes in normal church! But Monica and Dilayney came and I felt so much joy watching them meet everybody and feel so welcomed! One of the greatest miracles this week happened this day! Monica really wants to get baptized and has a date for the 20th but her boyfriend and her aren't married! So we decided to do a specific fast, and ask that her husbands heart will be softened and that he will marry her so that she can be baptized. The miracle part is that we asked Monica if she would like to join with us and she said YES! IT is such a miracle that she has such a desire to have answers that she would put so much work into it and have so much faith! Everyone please pray for Monica and her family! Well that is all that happened in this crazy week! I love you guys and I am truly blessed here in Eagle! Keep on praying and reading your scriptures, and watch the talk "God is the Gardener", and remember that he knows who he wants you to be!❤💜💙💞
