This week was very COLD!!!! It is absolutely beautiful here and absolutely freezing! Me and my comp were laughing because we got in the car after knocking doors, and we were both like "Can you breathe out of your nose", Neither one of us could very well and we found out that our nose hairs were frozen....hahahaah, sorry that is gross but true! It got to -28 degrees here this last week! Steamboat is crazy!!! We got about 7 inches of snow and I saw people driving around in TANKTOPS!!!! I thought Utah was cold. This morning the snow was so much that our power and water were out! And sam thinks his cold showers are bad..... hahaha just kidding! This week was so good though! My favorite part of the week was probably the hardest part! We started out the week with Hermana Briceno realizing she lost her camera! Which doesnt seem like a big deal, but is really is because it has all of her memories and photos on there, and her family really doesnt have the money to buy her a new one! So we were searching everywhere we had been.. (Which was all over town). We checked Walmart, City Market, The library, the church, and just everywhere! And then she realized that she slipped in front of a members house on the ice and that it might have fallen out of her pocket, and that was the day that it had snowed 7 inches. And so we decided to shovel these two parking spots in front of her house where she had slipped. And it was brutal, the snow was so heavy and I think that I inhereted my moms bad back! And it is kind of dumb but by the end we had a big pile left and I could just not do it me and my comp were so sore! And I just said a little prayer in my heart to have the strength to finish shoveling and find my companions camera. And 5 seconds later 2 snow plows come down the street and see us struggling and finish plowing it!!! I was so grateful to my Heavenly Father! And then right after that Sister Blake comes out with an old camera that she had and said hey you can have this! I was amazed, It amazes me that heavenly father wanted to help me with something so little and silly! But I truly did learn from that that he is there for every single silly thing in our lives. And i know that is he is there for something as little as that, he is going to be there so much more with the big problems in my life! I know that is I ask with faith he will send big snow plows to clear away the problems and give me relief!
This week really has been great! I have realized so much more the miracles that I have been given, I realize that through every door in the face and every rejection he is with me!!! I love elder hollands talk about missionary work and the atonement. He says........ " When you struggle, when you are rejected, when you are spit upon and cast out and made a hiss and a byword, you are standing with the best life this world has ever known, the only pure and perfect life ever lived. You have reason to stand tall and be grateful that the Living Son of the Living God knows all about your sorrows and afflictions. The only way to salvation is through Gethsemane and on to Calvary. The only way to eternity is through Him—the Way, the Truth, and the Life."
I Have seen him in every detail of my mission, and I am so grateful that he is there and that I can walk beside him and try and be more like him. We did see more miracles this week as well! Especially at church! It was fast and testimony meeting and normally not a ton of people show up to church here because of work. But this week we had 4 less actives, and we had a wife of a less active who is not a member come! We were so beyond happy! And then we met a new member in our ward who said that her name is Melissa Mecum! And she is the daughter of sams mission president! She is so sweet, and she came up to us and said, "Hey my son is 8 and needs to be baptized, but he needs to take the discussions and learn more"! We are excited to start teaching him, we really are seeing the lords hand in this area! I know that missionary work is not about the statistica of how bad an area is or how much success it has had in the past. But I know that if we have faith love and a positive attitude, and we are diligent and obedient we WILL have success! I am excited to continue to work in this area with these amazing people and my wonderful sweet companion! I love being a missionary with all of my heart! I am so happy, and I love this work! Estoy agradecida por todos los milagros en esta area! Y por mis muchas bendiciones! LOS QUIERO!!
Con amor, Hermana Tams💜❤💙💜
